It felt safe walking around at night and the road quality made driving and biking really pleasant. The slower pace here gave me a great chance to soak up Chiang Mai's countryside atmosphere without feeling too isolated.

There aren't a lot of dining options nearby, so if you want a varied food scene, you'd probably need to get used to driving a bit or be comfortable cooking at home. Public transport options are quite limited, so having a vehicle is almost a necessity. Also, I missed having a gym nearby for regular workouts.
