Halloween in Chiang Mai is a small, calm scene compared with Bangkok, but 2026 has one clear headline night. On Saturday, 31 October 2026, the InterContinental Chiang Mai The Mae Ping hosts a rooftop vampire gala, two hotels serve themed buffets, and ONE NIMMAN has run a haunted forest since 23 October. This guide lists only events with a 2026 organizer page, with prices as published, plus where to base yourself and how to get home.
Does Chiang Mai Celebrate Halloween?
Not as a traditional holiday. Halloween is an imported celebration in Thailand, so in Chiang Mai it lives in hotels, bars, malls, and the expat and student community rather than in the streets. That keeps it relaxed: you will find costume parties, themed dinners, and a few family-friendly attractions, but nothing on the scale of Bangkok.
The city's real festival season comes right after, with the lantern festivals in November. If you are visiting or relocating, Halloween is a good, low-pressure way to see how the local expat scene socializes.

1. The Crimson Court at HONG's Sky Bar

This is the flagship night. HONG's Sky Bar at the InterContinental Chiang Mai The Mae Ping becomes a gothic vampire gala on 31 October, 6 pm to midnight, with an opening act at 7 pm and the main show at 8:30 pm. The dress code is vampire elegance, so think capes, velvet, lace, and black and crimson. Full details are on the InterContinental event page.
-
General admission is THB 1,000 net per person. The THB 900 early bird ended on 11 October.
-
VIP tables are THB 5,500 net for up to 4 guests and THB 7,500 net for up to 6.
2. A Wicked Halloween Feast at The Gad Lanna

If you would rather sit down to dinner, the InterContinental also runs a Halloween buffet at The Gad Lanna on 31 October from 6 pm to 10:30 pm, with live music and themed dishes. Adults pay THB 2,688 net. Children aged 5 to 12 pay THB 1,344, and children aged 0 to 4 dine free. The early bird price of THB 2,400 ended on 24 October, and a "come 4, pay 3" group offer is available.
3. Halloween Buffet at Meliá Chiang Mai

A lower-priced dinner option is the buffet at Laan Na Kitchen in Meliá Chiang Mai on 31 October, 6 pm to 10 pm, at THB 1,099 net per person. The menu mixes international dishes with northern Thai touches, including turkey khao soi from a live station and a mushroom soup served as "Witches' Brew". The THB 999 early rate required booking at least a week ahead, so expect the standard price now.
Free and Low-Cost Halloween Options
Chiang Mai's lower-budget Halloween is mostly around Nimman and the Old City. Several of these organizers have not published a clear entry price, so treat "low-cost" as a guide and confirm at the door or on the event page.
4. Haunted Forest at ONE NIMMAN

ONE NIMMAN has been running its Haunted Forest since 23 October, daily from 3 pm to 10 pm through 31 October, with food stalls, a haunted house and street performances. Ghost parades run on 30 and 31 October at 5:30 pm and 7 pm. On 31 October, costume contest registration is from 5 pm to 6 pm; the contest starts at 6 pm, and the prize pool is worth over THB 10,000. The only price listed is THB 100 for the Ghost Games, which includes the haunted house; general entry is not stated. See the Chiang Mai Citylife report for the schedule.
5. Halloween Haunted House at Think Park

Think Park on Huay Kaew Road lists its Halloween Haunted House from 23 October to 1 November, with evening opening. We could not confirm the ticket price or daily hours, so check the event page before heading over.
6. Halloween Costume Party at Spice Garden

For something social, Spice Garden in the Old City (Moonmuang Soi 5) hosts a costume party on 31 October from 6 pm, with a live DJ, a photographer, and themed drinks. It is organized with the meet-up group Beyond Small Talk(s), so it suits newcomers who want to meet people. Registration is required through the organizer, and the price has not been announced.
Nimman, Old City or Riverside: Where to Base Yourself for the Night

Most Halloween events cluster in three areas, and your base decides how easy the night is. Picking a district also helps if you are testing the city before a longer stay.
-
Nimman: the best base for the ONE NIMMAN haunted forest, plus cafes and bars within walking distance. It is popular with remote workers; our guide to the best neighborhoods in Chiang Mai covers how Nimman compares with other areas.
-
Old City: the walkable center, close to Spice Garden and the moat-side bars. Our look at life in Chiang Mai for locals and expats explains why many long-term residents choose this part of town.
-
Riverside: the hotel zone along the Ping River, home to the InterContinental and Meliá events. It suits a dinner-and-show night, and many condos for rent in Chiang Mai here work well for stays of a month or more.
Tips for Halloween Night in Chiang Mai
-
Book now. 31 October is a Saturday, and hotel events with set menus fill up. Early bird prices have already ended.
-
Plan your ride home before you go. Grab works well for point-to-point trips. Red songthaews are cheaper but cover set routes, so agree the fare before you board, especially late at night.
-
Do not ride a motorbike after drinking. Take a Grab or a songthaew home instead.
-
Dress for the venue. Rooftop and outdoor events are open air, and late October can still bring evening showers, so pack a light layer or a compact umbrella.
-
Keep valuables close at crowded events and keep a little cash for stalls that do not take cards.
After Halloween: Yi Peng and Loy Krathong
The next big event in town is the lantern festival season, when Yi Peng and Loy Krathong light up Chiang Mai around the November full moon, listed as 24 to 25 November 2026. Our Chiang Mai lantern festival guide explains the traditions, the main viewing areas, and how to avoid the biggest crowds. Check the dates against official festival announcements before booking flights or hotels.
Find Your Own Base in Chiang Mai

If a few nights in Chiang Mai make you want to stay longer, start with the numbers. Our monthly cost of living in Chiang Mai 2026 breakdown shows what a typical month costs, and you can browse current condos for sale in Chiang Mai to see what is on the market. Foreign buyers can own condos freehold within the 49% foreign quota of a building, but cannot own land outright, so it is worth speaking with a licensed Thai lawyer before you commit. Prices vary by project, floor, and unit, so check live listings.
